I've made quite a few custom sleeve for some of my friends over the last few months. Unfortunitly I have not been quite so good at taking pictures of them. And these sad photos aren't really swoon worthy since they were taken with my computer and phone
Meh.
Never the less, as I continue I'll make a better effort to take some decent pictures.
This one is my personal favorite. Gah, the picture is horrid, but it made of smooth 100% cotton black fabric with a hand cut and hand sewn broken heart/ lightening bolt. If its not already striking that place in your brain where you're like...."Hey I've seen that before. Is that....." Why, yes. Yes it is. The John Mayer Heartbreak Warfare Logo.
Le Sigh.
This next one was custom maid for one of my best friends who is the Maid of Honor in her cousins wedding next week.
I made this beauty from a vintage napkin. I cut the napkin which was square and and had a lace applique. Then as best as I could patched it together with some muslin I had laying around for the backing.
I just so happened to have a gorgeous diamond button laying around in my button stash as well and couldn't resist. When I found a silk ribbon in aqua in my scrap pile as well, I swooned, came to, and realized just how gorgeous it could be.
Sarah asked me to make a sleeve that said "Bride". I fumbled with printing tags, labels, even transfer paper, and in the end I was just never satisfied with how it would look on the delicate surface of vintage lace. I opted instead to hand stitched it with aqua embroidery floss.
I do like the way it turned out, in my own script. Although I was a little disappointed at the positioning, but that was a bit out of my hands, since I had already sewn it into a sleeve and undoing it would damage the lace. I'm not too much of a perfectionist, so I let it go and moved on! :)
For a special personal touch I printed out and sewed on a label which swapped "Latte with Linky" for "Ashely and Quinn" I had an font affair with this script, as it just kept making me giddy and romanced the sleeve to new levels, IMO. So very Mr. Darcy era, don't you think?
Ashely and Quinn, I hope you have a beautiful and memorable wedding next week and enjoy a lifetime of love together!
